HELL #1: BLACK LAKE

hell is a sonichuesque fanfiction comic where the two main characters of my favourite movie (liz and the blue bird) are dead and hang out in a labyrinthian hellcage. hell is distorted with feedback and constantly shapeshifting with no exit in sight. space folds in on itself and doesn't make any sense. shoujo manga ornamentation is crushed into blood, static and broken glass and drenched over everything. infatuation, sadness and unrequited love are blown up to apocalyptic proportions. the visuals are inspired by the sound of boris' music, the music and the hearts of the characters being fractured, as well as my deficiencies as an artist and inability to capture a fraction of what I love about the original work. it is a representation of my (possessive) love and screaming heart for naoko yamada and kyoto animation and the grief over the arson attack that killed 36 kyoani staff.
